What are we talking about
when we speak of democracy?
The photographic work „Myanmar‘s Driving Force“ examines the turning point in society and its effects on the private sphere by means of selected groups of people who are actively involved in the upheavals.
Myanmar (Burma or Burma until 1989) was under a military dictatorship from 1988 to 2010. Since April 2011, the beginnings of a democratization process has been seen. After years of total isolation, the country and its people are now undergoing a leap forward into the globalized 21st century. The opposition NLD (National League of Democracy), led by Aung San Suu Kyi, emerged victorious from Myanmar‘s first formally free parliamentary elections on November 8, 2015. Although this election result is an important first step on the road to democratization, it should not obscure the fact that Myanmar continues to face massive political, social and economic challenges.
2021 The situation didnt change at all. My thoughts are with the activists.
